Today is a big day in Kentucky, as residents head to the polls to elect a new governor. Surprisingly, the Democrat, Steve Beshear has a 23 point lead over incumbent Republican Governor Ernie Fletcher, who has been plagued by ethical scandals. Beshear has been running a "values" campaign of returning "honesty and integrity" back to politics and "being responsible and accountable for ourselves."According to the Washington Post:
Not surprisingly, Fletcher too, says "this race is about values." He points to casino gambling, which he opposes, as well as a list of social issues. He says Besear cannnot be trusted on what the governor calls, "the four Gs: God, guns, gynecology and gay rights."If Beshear wins today, I hope that other Democrats will continue to hit Republicans on their "values."
