Morrissey under attack from his own fans after saying Norway murders were 'nothing' compared to McDonald's and KFC

Morrissey, pictured at Glastonbury this year, has long been a staunch defender of animal rights

Morrissey has sparked a storm of protest with an outrageous claim that fast food chains are guilty of murder on a par with mass killer Anders Breivik.
The famously vegetarian singer made the reprehensible comments on stage in Warsaw.
The miserable Mancunian said the tragedy in Norway was 'nothing' compared to the evil carried out by McDonald's and KFC.
Morrissey, 52, launched into his tirade during the Poland leg of his European tour on Sunday night.
He introduced Meat Is Murder, the title song of one of his albums, with a reference to the horrific murders carried out by the blonde-haired Norwegian.
'We all live in a murderous world, as the events in Norway have shown with 97 dead,' he said (when the death toll was thought to be higher).
'Though that is nothing compared to what happens in McDonald's and Kentucky Fried S*** every day.'

Many at the gig were shocked, with one posting a comment on the internet which read: 'The killing of children compared to KFC & MCDonald's!!!! What an ass***'.'
Another wrote: 'I really don't know if that's forgivable. Or of any use to the vegetarian cause'.
McDonald's is reported to sell, worldwide, 75 hamburgers per second - making 6.48 million per day, or 2.365 billion per year.
In the UK, the outlet had one billion customer visits in 2009, who bought 87 million Big Macs.

Morrissey later refused to respond, saying his statement spoke for itself.
The death toll from Breivik's twin terror attack has now officially been put at 76 - with 68 shot dead on Utoya Island and eight killed in the bomb blast at offices in Oslo - after the search for more bodies ended.
The 32-year-old, who claimed he was starting a war against Marxists and Muslims, chased down hundreds of young people at a political rally on the island before calmly shooting them down.
Dozens begged for their lives and tried to swim to safety but were executed in cold blood. One of the victims was a 14-year-old schoolgirl from New Zealand.
