Lotus Lane

On our way back from the Summer Palace, we decided to stop at Lotus Lane, a strip of hip restaurants and bars surrounding a lake in northern Beijing. With outdoor seating up against the lake, it is an excellent place to people watch and enjoy the sun and breeze.

We decided to eat at S'Silk Road because it had the most locals sitting outside, so we thought it had to be authentic and delicious, and it was. We drank couple of beers and I had barbecue beef and Ralph had an spicy fish, complete with head and tail.

After dinner we walked back around the lake and watched the boats and the people writing water calligraphy and playing cards, Chinese chess, dominoes, and checkers. It was a very relaxing way to end the day in Beijing.
