I was getting concerned because I had not seen Ellie singing at her regular spot in front of City Hall this year. I mean she is 75 years old and I thought that she might be ill or bed-ridden. But thankfully, she came strolling down the street before the Carnival parade started, pulling her wagon with her jam box roped to it. She was singing "New York, New York," in a bikini to the delight of the crowd.
After she finished singing, she grabbed her wagon and walked away. But not before announcing the she had a biography about her life that was available "free of charge." I did not get a chance to grab one, but from what I know she used to be a man, a preacher, a father, and is now "living her dream" as a woman and a performer. Love her!
